HMP Perth has a capacity of 630; though on average, holds around 678 inmates per day. It caters for adult male prisoners who are both long and short-term, plus those on remand or serving a life sentence. It also has facilities for housing sex offenders. The prison was originally built around 1810 and very few improvements were made to the building until 1996. Here’s some facts about Perth Prison
HMP Perth is a male’s prison in the south east of Perth, Perth and Kinross. Opened in the 19th century, the prison has capacity to hold 630 inmates.
There are three accommodation Houseblocks – ‘A’ Hall, ‘B’ Hall and ‘C’ Hall – comprising both single and double cells. There is also a 14 cell Separation and Reintegration Unit. ‘D’ Hall and ‘E’ Hall have been closed in recent years.
John Lawson, a prisoner at HMP Perth, was charged for the false imprisonment and assault of Klaudia Budzinska in his flat in Dundee. At the time of writing (September 1st 2017), he was due to be sentenced in September 2017, after admitting his offenses. Dundee Sheriff Court was told that he had pinned down Miss Budzinska and choked her before falling asleep.

Visiting hours are Monday to Sunday for convicted prisoners without children. Times are 13:00 – 14:15 Mon, Wed & Fri, 19:00 – 20:00 Mon, Tue & Wed, 14:45 – 16:00 Thur, and 15:15 – 15:45 Sat & Sun.
