HMP Hewell opened in 2008 and is an adult male local prison, holding mixed-category offenders; including those in remand, those who have been sentenced and those who are recognised as vulnerable. It has a capacity of 1,261 and is located in Redditch in Worcestershire. In addition to the main prison, the grounds also house The Grange, which is a category D open site. Here’s some facts about Hewell Prison
HMP Hewell is a multiple security category prison in Redditch, Worcestershire. Opened in 2008, the prison has capacity for 1,278 male inmates. The prison is a merger between category B prison Blakenhurst, category C prison Brockhill, and category D prison Hewell Grange.
On the closed site, there are six house blocks with single & double cells and in-cell sanitation. House blocks 1, 2A spur and 3 predominantly convicted prisoners with a resettlement focus. House block 4 holds prisoners with drug or alcohol issues. House block 5 and 2B spur hold vulnerable prisoners. House block 6 is an induction/first night unit.
In The Grange resettlement site, there is a large three-storey house with dormitory accommodation of varying sizes for standard and enhanced category D male prisoners. There is also a hostel in an annex and a small community hostel in the grounds (Harwood House) for selected applicants.
