HMP Glen Parva is a closed juvenile and young adult offender prison. Situated in Glen Parva, close to Leicester, the prison originally opened in the 1970s as a borstal. Since then, the prison has expanded considerably, and now has a capacity of 808. It has always been used to house young offenders, and currently holds a mix of sentenced, unsentenced and remand inmates. There is an education programme, covering six skills academies.
