HMP Dovegate first opened in 2001. Since then, it has been privately managed by Serco and currently has the capacity to hold 1060 prisoners. It is a category B establishment, housing adult male prisoners, and holds those serving a sentence of 4 years or more, with at least 18 months remaining. HMP Dovegate is a category B privately managed prison which holds up to 1060 male prisoners. Opened in 2001, the prison has managed by Serco since then. It is located in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire.
According to the most recent inspection report, the prison has three living blocks. House block 1 is made up of A – E General wings. House block 2 contains F and J general wings, and G general wing for long-term prisoners , H vulnerable prisoner unit and K cellular confinement and accommodation for prisoners aged 50 and over. House block 3 contains L and P general wings, M integrated drug treatment system (IDTS) wing and N remand prisoners and first night centre.
