HMP Doncaster is a private prison, situated in the Marshgate area of Doncaster. It is currently managed by Serco, who hold the contract until 2026. After initially being a category A prison, it was downgraded to a category B in 2003; and it has a capacity of 1145. Here’s some facts about Doncaster Prison
HMP Doncaster is a category B prison in the Marshgate area of Doncaster. Opened in 1996, it has the capacity to hold 1150 male prisoners. The prison is privately owned by Serco, who holds the contract until 2026.
Three house blocks made up of four wings each, with additional accommodation in the Annexe on the ground floor of the health centre building. The care and separation unit has 22 separate cells.
The third transgender was found dead in her cell after being refused a move to a women’s prison. Jenny Smith was believed to have committed suicide at Doncaster prison after being refused female hormones. Her friend, who wished to remain anonymous, said that not having the hormones as like coming off drugs.
